NEW ORLEANS SLAVE MARKER TOUR APP
The New Orleans Slave Trade Marker and Tour App is a project of the New Orleans Tricentennial Commission and Lura Belle Productions. The Tricentennial Commission was formed to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city of New Orleans. Lura Belle Productions, led by Producer Laura Tennyson enlisted historians and voice actors to compile and narrate this important and often neglected part of New Orleans history. Whether you have an hour or a few days, the New Orleans Slave Trade Marker free audio guide is an immersive and dramatic self-guided tour of sites that played an important role in the domestic slave trade of New Orleans. The multi-track guide incorporates historical overviews of the sites, explorations of intersecting themes, including the rise of the cotton and sugar economies, and the first-person testimonies of enslaved individuals who were bought and sold in the New Orleans Market.
